Sheffield Steal

Sheffield Steal is the only Club team in Sheffield, competing on the UK Tour in all three divisions (Open, Women's and Mixed).  The squad is made up of a number of Sheffield University players, as well as some more 'experienced' individuals who live in the area.

Players have travelled quite a distance to represent Steal in the last couple of years, with many coming from Manchester, Leeds, York and Hull.

2008 was arguably Steal's most successful season as the club fielded two Open and two Women's teams at each of the UK Tour events throughout the summer, with the Open team finishing 10th at the end-of-season European Regional Qualifying tournament and the 9th highest team from the UK.

Whilst Ultimate has been played in the UK for over 30 years, Sheffield Steal was only established in 2003.  The idea was to form a committed open and mixed team that could bring a new life to Ultimate in Sheffield and the surrounding area, combining the talent and experience of several ex-students living in the area with the youth and exuberance of the current crop of University players.

The club has had success in its short history, including participating at the World Ultimate Club Championships in 2006, and has had a number of members representing their country at International level.

The Steal Ladies team was formed in 2006 and became an established Tour team the following year.
